Kara Cey is a multidisciplinary artist born in Brussels. Influenced by the electronic music scene , abstract hip-hop and many other genres, Kara Cey managed to create a unique sound by taking the time to carefully design his own electronic sounds, and computer graphics.
Kara Cey has composed music for a number of short film projects. In 2015 for example he was hired to compose soundtracks for the award winning short-film The Seed/ La Graine. It is also important to mention that Kara Cey is the founder of Anatomyunion (http://www.anatomyunion.com/) which has been reviewed and featured on VICE New York and is an ambitious project that tries to bring the arts, sciences and philosophy together. The project started as a music label that aimed to release seven electronic music vinyl only releases that reflect the parts of the human body.
The project released electronic music artitsts such as Jesse Somfay a.k.a Borealis and Lakker, and works of visual graphic artist Alex Konahin.
Throughout the years the Anatomyunion project expanded into a multi disciplinary platform and the aim is not focused on promoting only electronic music but also promoting diverse forms of art and science in order to unite people from different backgrounds.
The most innovative part of the project is the 3D interactive website. The animations, 3D objects and web design are also made by Kara Cey as we speak, the coding of the website is done by the talented Jan Jorissen who is an independent front end web developer. The idea of the website is to let the public discover the concept and the philosophy of the project by interacting with the objects or content in the room. Each room will represent a release and all the people that have contributed their time or effort to the project will have their own spot in one of the rooms.
Kara Cey’s music could be described as a combination of atmospheric vocals, heavy distorted basses, rhythmic patterns, field recordings, layers of guitars and synths. In an interview with Golden Boy Press (2016) he describes his music as “an embodied experience of fragmented moments”. Although Kara Cey’s artistic endeavors find their root in music, he pushes his limits to explore more of his creative capabilities. To reach a full sensitive experience visuals are these days a very important part of his music.
Kara Cey’s self-titled EP contains three tracks which are produced and recorded between 2015-2017 The three tracks of the EP are diverse in rhythm and colour but merges seamlessly together. Album and live dates to follow Autumn / Winter 2017
