About the band:

Thunder & Co. is a band from Lisbon, Portugal, driven by emotional dance music. The Thunder Factory is managed by Rodrigo Gomes and Sebastião Teixeira who craft the songs with collaboration of excellent musicians from all areas. From analogic synth obsessed dance producers to the world music drummer Ivo Costa (Batida / Sara Tavares).

They came up with the name Thunder & Co. a couple of years ago when they decided to enter a remix contest for The Rapture’s cathartic hit single “How deep is Your Love”. Their remix was selected among hundreds to go to the final 10. Members from The Rapture and Hot Chip described it as being a “solid, outside the box, funkytown” remix. After this experience, they decided to start making their own songs.

Last year, the release of O.N.O. (a love song decribed by electronic rumours blog as a “dreamy synth nudisco groove”) caught the attention of national radio Antena 3, reaching #2 of the it’s top 30 chart and caused interest from NOS discos label who provided support for Nociceptor the debut album

About the debut album:

Nociceptor is the first album by Thunder & Co. and perfectly showcases their view on dance music. It doesn’t have to be happy and cheerful. Nociceptors are the sensory neurons which allow us to feel pain. They’re the ones responsible for letting us experience hurt. Most of the 10 tracks featured on this album were written under the influence of excited and fully functioning nociceptors, including “Apples”, the recently released single.

About the single:

Apples is the chosen single from Nociceptor. Giving you a false notion of optimism through the lively drums, flowing synths and the “drunk” encouraging crowd of friends on the chorus, Apples is a song about the empty phases of life, when you drink and get high for no reason. It’s about the nonsense that sometimes makes us wake up the next day feeling ashamed of ourselves.
