– 23 years old and unashamedly bedroom-built, J F L E has spent nearly a decade developing his sound until eventually forming his quirky project at university in early 2014.
– DIY devotee, writes and produces all his own work, and has made a bunch of his own music videos, available on website jfle.uk <http://jfle.uk>
– Used to gig with just cassette tapes as a backing, recently formed a band to add another dimension to live shows.
– Recently won FreshBeats365 “musically innovative 2016” artist award: https://freshbeats365.com/2017/01/02/fresh-beats-365-awards-winners-2016/
New release ‘Laid To Rest’ is an energetic double-A side and perfectly matches complex sound worlds with a healthy amount of pop sensibility.
A – Laid to Rest: Nostalgic, distant melancholy. A wry piece of morbid self-reflection, about ensuring to remember the bits we’d rather were forgotten.
AA – Double Bind: Uplifting, with tricky drum pattern. A double bind can be defined as “a situation in which a person is confronted with two irreconcilable demands or a choice between two undesirable courses of action” – the lyrics speak of an acceptance of this fate, and so the song is left with a rather upbeat tone overall, despite exploring such a bleak predicament.
