Info:
Hank Tree is a Glasgow based project led by guitarist and songwriter Fergus MacDonald, which seeks to balance fragility and harshness through atmospheric ballads, distortion-heavy instrumentals and pieces featuring fast picked classical guitar and field recordings.
Hank Tree has supported artists including King Creosote, Steve Gunn and Gwenifer Raymond and received airplay on BBC6 Music and BBC Radio Scotland, released its first EP via the Chilean label Uva Robot and the debut album, The Big North, on Olive Grove Records.
Hank Tree – Care 1, finds MacDonald looking back over the last decade of experiences working in the care sector supporting people with profound learning difficulties and mental health problems and explores questions about what it means to rely on other people.
Musically, the album centres around MacDonald’s classical guitar and dual vocals with singer and double bass player, Clarissa Cheong, and was shaped by production and performances by musician Peter Broderick.Peter Broderick is an acclaimed composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer who’s work moves effortlessly between contemporary folk, ambient and experimental music. A long time Erased Tapes artist, he has collaborated with Rival Consoles, Nils Frahm, La Dispute and East Forest, while creating an expansive catalogue of solo recordings, film scores and contemporary dance compositions.
